
Mountain Navigation using Map, Compass, and GPS.
May 2011, Date: TBA in Lillooet, BC.
During this course we will work with various tools suitable for mountain navigation: Maps, Compass, GPS, Altimeter, and natural navigation tools. Expect to spend the entire day outdoors learning about and using these tools, some hiking will be required. At the end of this course you can expect to recognize features and your location on a topographical map, and apply compass and GPS coordinates to it.
For your maximum enjoyment of this class, you will need the following items: Map (TBA), Compass with flip mirror, GPS/altimeter are optional.
Please also bring with you: warm clothing, rain gear, suitable footwear, lunch, water, note book and pencil.
We will be utilizing a couple different sites through out the day, be prepared to car-pool.
