
Mountain Navigation using Map, Compass, and GPS.
May 29, 2010. 9 am to 5 pm. Lillooet, BC.
Preregistration is required by May 20, 2010.
During this course we will work with various tools suitable for mountain navigation: Maps, Compass, GPS, Altimeter, and natural navigation tools. Expect to spend the entire day outdoors learning about and using these tools, some hiking will be required. At the end of this course you can expect to recognize features on a topographical map, and apply compass and GPS coordinates to it.
For your maximum enjoyment of this class, you will need the following items: Map (Shalath 92J/9), Compass with flip mirror, GPS/altimeter are optional.
Please also bring with you: warm clothing, rain gear, suitable footwear, lunch, water, note book and pencil.
Participants requiring the Shalath map may order it through Canadian Mountain Adventure for no additional cost (a $15.00 value). Please request by May 16th.
We will be utilizing a couple different sites through out the day, be prepared to car-pool.
