About Us
Canadian Mountain Adventure - The Company
Canadian Mountain Adventure was created in 2008 out of a desire to offer the best possible mountain trips for the customer that deserves a truly unique and quality experience. We are located in Lillooet, BC where he have the ability to offer exceptional experiences in a truly amazing yet relatively unknown area. You will never hike amongst a crowd of tourists; you can expect a true mountain wilderness experience a cut above all the rest.
Our Vision
Canadian Mountain Adventure is committed to providing safe and authentic mountain adventures to our customers. We believe that our customers’ vacation is precious and therefore strive to provide uncompromising quality professional service, detailed pre-trip planning, and great food through amazing world-class mountain terrain. We believe that your Canadian Mountain Adventure should be one that makes all our your friends green with envy!
Our Policy
Unless noted, we keep our adventures exclusive to your group, insuring that there are no conflicting agendas or personalities due to a lack of party compatibility. We keep our group sizes small: 6 - 8 participants, to ensure a more personal experience for each participant and to maintain a manageable group size for your safety. We tailor each trip to our participants’ tastes and objectives. We travel at the pace of the slowest member of your party; our guides never let their own goals supercede your own. No matter what the goal, your safety is always our paramount priority.
Our Ethics
Although seemingly rugged, mountain terrain can be very sensitive to disturbances, including much of the wildlife that lives in our area. We practice ‘no-trace’ camping, and ‘low-impact’ travel. We strive to travel on established trails whenever possible and when not possible we employ travel techniques that are the least invasive. Camps are set in established camp areas (when available) or on areas that can handle moderate foot traffic.
We avoid disturbing wildlife at all times; when a certain species is known to be in an area, especially when breeding, we choose to not offer trips in that area during that period of time. We encourage participants to photograph wildlife from a safe distance that is not disturbing the animal. We are very careful about bears. In camp, we keep our cooking area away from our sleeping area and take proper precautions when storing food around camps.
We strictly enforce a ‘pack in, pack out’ policy. No garbage is to be left behind and we adhere to current widely accepted practices when disposing of left over food and human waste.
We believe in human equality and do not prejudice against any race, nationality, religion, gender, or sexual orientation.... Everyone deserves a Canadian Mountain Adventure!
Our Guides
We only employ experienced ACMG accredited guides. The ACMG (Association of Canadian Mountain Guides) is the governing body for guides who operate in mountain terrain and require extensive pre-requisites and rigorous testing before a candidate is accepted in the association.
Members are required to obtain related ongoing continued professional development and maintain Advance Wilderness First Aid (80 hour instruction) certification every three years. In addition, we select guides that are professional interpreters and/or trained naturalists. Most importantly, our guides hold shared values that include being courteous, respectful and compassionate towards our participants, other backcountry users, and the natural environment. They believe in offering the highest standard of experience to our customers, believe that safety is the paramount concern at all times during all adventures and conduct themselves in a humble yet confident manner. Our guides know that each Canadian Mountain Adventure belongs to the customer and that the experience is about the whole package, not just the guide.
Our Lead Guide
On most occasions you will be guided by our Lead Guide: Wayne Robinson
Wayne is a Hiking Guide sanctioned by the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides. He is also a professional level interpreter accredited by the Interpretive Guides Association (formerly MPHIA) and a canoe instructor. His interests include flora, wildlife photography, geology, mountaineering and skiing. Before starting Canadian Mountain Adventure he worked in Jasper National Park for many years as a professional guide and interpreter. He has appeared on travel television programs and in several publications including National Geographic Adventure Magazine.
